As part of our World Oceans Day celebration, we asked our guests and employees why they think ocean conservation is important, what they love about our oceans, and finally, why we need to protect them. Here is what they said:
Join us Saturday, June 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Georgia Aquarium’s World Oceans Day celebration. We are partnering once again with Dr. Seuss and will have lots of giveaways, activities, games and more including The Home Depot Kids Workshop, decorating World Oceans Day crowns and more! These events are always free for annual pass members and complimentary for all guests in the Aquarium with general admission. For more information, please visit here.
In addition to our onsite events, we have also been celebrating World Oceans Day on social media all week, raising awareness for the need to protect and conserve our oceans and the marine life that inhabit them. We currently have a Facebook contest running through Monday. Fans are asked to post a picture on our wall of their favorite marine animal and tell us why ocean conservation is important to them. On Monday morning, the post with the most likes will win a prize from Ecosphere. Fans can enter anytime between now and Sunday. Also keep an eye on our Twitter page, where we have been giving away more World Oceans Day prizes to lucky trivia question winners and promoting ocean conservation and environmentally friendly practices such as using sustainable seafood methods (CNN).
Love photos of the ocean? We have amped up our Pinterest account with a “The Ocean We Want to Know” board! Pinned on the board are tips to help protect and better care for our oceans, use sustainable seafood practices and more! We have also launched our “GeorgiaAquarium” Instagram account highlighting our activities and support for World Oceans Day.
